Acer BT.T5005.002

Only by increasing the settings and adding 16xAF does the average frame rate drop to an unacceptable level. It is faster than the GeForce GT 520M in the Asus U36SD, but not as fast as the GT 540M in the Acer Aspire 3830TG, but that matters little as long as it remains perfectly playable.( Acer BT.T5005.002 )
Crysis 2 starts to become really demanding once you start adding DirectX 11 effects and high-resolution textures. However, in its original DirectX 9 version it still looks good but doesn't require a desktop SLI setup to work. The high-res texture pack and DX11 version is out of the question for the HD 6630M. ( Acer BT.T5007.001 )
The game is (just barely) playable at the games default "high" setting (actually the minimum setting) and native 1366x768 resolution. Even then the frame rate dips into the lower 20's on occasion. Compared to other laptops, the performance in Crysis 2 is roughly on par with the AMD-based Pavilion dv6 (Llano platform). ( Acer BT.T5007.002 )
Far Cry 2 has been around for a while now and gets to represent slightly older games in this test suite. The game includes a built-in benchmark tool, which is a welcome feature that makes it easier to assess performance across different quality settings. The game is easily playable in the tested settings and can be tweaked further to get even better visuals.( Acer BTP-AS1681 )
Gaming is not the primary purpose of this laptop, but the Envy 14 and its Radeon HD 6630M manages quite well in the tests. Avid gamers should look for a laptop with a more powerful graphics card, but for casual players who only play games every now and then, the Envy 14 should be more than sufficient. ( Acer LC.BTP03.003 )
By tweaking the game settings, most if not all current titles should be playable with the Radeon HD 6630M, but rarely with high settings. The low resolution of the display (1366x768) helps more games run in native resolution, which is always the best option from an image quality perspective. Older titles should pose no problems whatsoever for the Envy.( Acer BATCL32 )
Taking into account the high-end quad core processor placed in such a small and tight chassis, the noise level is surprisingly low. Under heavy load the system unsurprisingly goes into a much louder state, but it is not high-pitched or otherwise annoying. ( Acer BATCL32L )
This highest state is only reached in extreme situations, such as when playing games that make full use of both processor and graphics card. Even when taxing the system with demanding applications, the fan only occasionally goes into high-speed mode.( Acer BT.A1401.001 )
During general use, the laptop stays reasonably quiet at all times. Although the fan is never entirely turned off, it is not disturbingly loud at the lowest setting and the second-lowest setting is not much worse. There are several steps between the lowest and the highest setting, which is an additional plus. By and large, the Envy 14 doesn't put its fan to use when there is no need for it. ( Acer BT.A1401.002 )
The slot-loading DVD drive is not particularly quiet, as these things seldom are. I makes quite a bit of noise when spinning up and reading/writing data, but it is less disturbing during movie playback.( Acer BT.A1405.001 )
The cooling solution in the Envy 14 consists of a single fan accompanied by a single vent on the right-hand side of the laptop. For obvious reasons, this is also where most of the heat gathers during use. The right side is consistently warmer than the left, but this is never uncomfortable during light use. In contrast, ( Acer BT.A2401.001 ) during heavy load--when the processor reaches approximately 85 degrees C--the temperature on the bottom side close to the vent can rise above 40 C, but that nevertheless means that the laptop vacates heat very efficiently.
Furthermore, the keyboard and palm rest areas never become uncomfortable to use. In fact, they consistently stay below body temperature.. As long as the notebook stays on a flat surface, there appears to be no risk of overheating or throttling during heavy multi-core use. Still, we were only able to reproduce a maximum Turbo Boost frequency of 2.8 GHz, or around 100 MHz below the advertised Turbo Boost maximum.( Acer BT.A2401.002 )
Due to the quad-core Core i7 CPU, the battery should not last as long as the Envy 14's dual-core counterparts. This is evident when the laptop is put under maximum possible load with both the processor and dedicated graphics card constantly running at full capacity (an unrealistic scenario for most users). Here the laptop stays alive for 53 minutes, compared to 66 minutes for the Core i5 CPU. ( Acer BT.A2401.003 )
However, thanks to the switchable graphics feature and likely in part because Intel's HD Graphics chip is now integrated on the die itself (and manufactured in the same 32nm process), the laptop's endurance during minimal load is actually much better than with the previous model's Core i5-560M (4h 31min).( Acer BT.A2501.001 )
The "Idle" test is measured with Battery Eater "Reader's Test" and simulates reading a text document with minimum brightness and maximum power-saving measures (no WLAN). The "Surfing with WLAN" test is more realistic; display brightness is lowered by two steps from maximum and the web browser is set to change websites frequently and load sites with various types of content.( Acer BT.A2501.002 )
HP Envy 14When equipped with a quad-core Core i7 processor as well as a Radeon HD 6630M graphics card, there is no question that the Envy 14 is exceptionally powerful for its size. Compared to other notebooks with equivalent hardware, the Envy 14 is also relatively affordable. It's a pity that HP had to use such a low-end display to keep the price down.( Acer BTP-AS2000 )
The portable format, powerful components and high quality build would have made it a great choice for power users looking for a convenient form factor, but the display quality will be a major issue for many prospective buyers. HP has apparently learned from past mistakes in the latest Envy 15, which is equipped with a high-end IPS panel. Early revisions of the Envy 14 were also available with higher resolution (1600x900) panels, but this option is not present for this model.( Acer LC.BTP05.001 )
Apart from the budget display, the Envy 14 is a very attractive notebook. The design remains largely unchanged from the earlier models, with the exception that a backlit keyboard has been added--a both practical and aesthetically pleasing feature.( Acer BT.00403.005 )
The fact that the hardware is so potent and that the GPU can keep up with most of the latest games are another couple of points on the plus side. On top of that, it also comes with switchable graphics that gives the Envy 14 good battery life by switching to the integrated GPU to save power. ( Acer BT.00803.007 )
On the whole, it is really only the display that detracts from the overall impression. The Envy 14-2090eo is a powerful and versatile laptop in a small form factor. At the same time it offers a more than decent battery life thanks to switchable graphics.( Acer BT.00804.007 )
The 750GB Seagate GoFlex Turbo appears to be a smaller version of the GoFlex Satellite. It features the same glossy black plastic top, silver plastic sides and matte finish on the bottom. Like the Satellite, the Turbo uses Seagate's proprietary docking connector, which allows you to easily switch the drive's interface from USB 3.0 to powered eSATA or FireWire 800. The only features of the Satellite missing on the Turbo are the power port and button on either side of the drive.( Acer BT.00805.002 )

LENOVO G550M Battery,Lenovo ThinkPad X201i Battery

Local "1080p" (H.264)The performance in older and even current games have improved slightly in comparison to the GMA 3150, but it's still not a real pleasure. Lenovo ThinkPad X201  Battery TrackMania Nations Forever (55 fps) and World of Warcraft (31 fps) can be played smoothly in minimum details with the dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4250. However, the low resolution and poor detail reproduction leaves something to be desired. The new Starcraft II - Wings of Liberty doesn't run smoothly with an average of 14 fps. Lenovo ThinkPad X201i Battery
The demo of FIFA 11 already struggles with various problems in the menu view and not much more than a slide show is possible (less than 2 fps). It becomes clear in this field that the GPU's advantage is reduced to HD rendering and the gaming performance remains limited.LENOVO G550  Battery
Stronger hardware needs a good cooling element that is supported by a fan. The fan runs occasionally during ideal use (office, internet) and the noise level moves in a good lower third. The maximum rate of 33.7 dB(A) is within limits and doesn't show any irregularities. The integrated 2.5 inch memory medium also runs quietly with 31.5 dB(A) and there are no vibrations.LENOVO G550A  Battery
The assessed rates increase considerably under load and the Eee PC 1015T pushes itself into the foreground. The maximum rate is at a constant 41.3 dB(A) and the device is very audible in quiet surroundings.LENOVO G550G  Battery
We can measure a maximum of 40.4 degrees Celsius during use without load. This rate climbs minimally to 41.8 degrees Celsius under load. Overall, you can feel the heating on the bottom and can thus become uncomfortable on the lap in the long run.LENOVO G550M Battery
The included adapter is also striking. It is very compact and appears to be a bit overburdened with the hardware's energy appetite, at least in the stress test. The maximum operating temperature is a high 64.2 degrees Celsius on the exterior.Lenovo IdeaPad U350 Battery
Audio rendering is taken care of by two loudspeakers. The position on the cases front bottom and the moderate sound quality haven't changed. The high pitches are too evident and basses, as well as low pitches, are missing.Lenovo IdeaPad U350W  Battery
The netbook has both the standard 3.5 millimeter jack as well as a modern HDMI out. The latter transmits sound beside the video signal for an enhanced audio pleasure. Both interfaces are convincing in the audio rendering field. This allows connecting a modern AV receiver of the home cinema system beside the sound system.Lenovo 3000 Y500 Battery
Classic TestThe hardware's power consumption increases proportionally to the additional performance. The incorporated AMD V105 processor needs 9 watts (TDP) without the graphics unit. In return, a comparable Intel Atom N455 with an Intel GMA 3150 graphics only needs 5.5 watts (TDP) and is thus much more economical. Another consumer in the system that shouldn't be forgotten is the dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics unit.Lenovo 3000 Y510 Battery
The test device needs between 11.0 and 14.6 watts in normal use. These rates increase to a maximum of 26.4 watts under full load and the Eee PC can compete with larger subnotebooks. Comparable Intel netbooks are considerably more economical. It reduces the battery runtimes of AMD netbooks.Lenovo 3000 Y510a Battery
The "Classic Test" from BatteryEater (tool) simulates the hardware load without energy saving functions. Additionally,Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Battery the maximum display brightness, as well as Windows 7's high performance profile is selected and the mobile technologies are enabled. The "Super Performance Mode" is activated in Asus' Super Hybrid Engine, which actually doesn't generate any performance increase. The battery charge is drained after a poor 2 hours and 42 minutes and you have to connect it to the mains. Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Battery
Internet surfing and answering emails is usually the targeted application field. The netbook provides a runtime of 3 hours and 31 minutes with a good display brightness. The new Asus Eee PC 1015PEM with Intel's Atom N550 dual core processor supplies (almost) twice as much runtime in this field.Lenovo IdeaPad Y530a Battery
Even the maximum battery life with minimum hardware load turns out poor. The "BatteryEater Reader's Test" is executed with minimum display brightness, disabled mobile technologies and all energy saving options on. The upper limit of battery life is reached after 5 hours and 28 minutes and the battery has to be recharged. The dedicated graphics unit is a major reason that the AMD netbook can't keep up with the latest Intel devices. You'll have to make a compromise of performance and battery life.Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 Battery
The Asus Eee PC 1015T, as the first 10 inch netbook with AMD components from Asus, leaves us with mixed feelings. The workmanship, design and inputs are still bonus points. The modern HDMI port and extensive communication options are also pleasing.IdeaPad Y730 Battery
The innards have been reorganized and an AMD V105 single core processor (1.2 GHz) including a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics do their job. The increase in performance is especially noticed in everyday use, as well as in rendering HD videos. The increased emissions and the moderate stereo loudspeakers on the case's bottom are drawbacks.Lenovo IdeaPad Y730a Battery
Asus displays straightforwardness in regards to the screen and still offers a matt 10.1 inch screen with a native resolution of 1024x600 pixels. An optional HD display with comparatively good rates would be desirable in the future.
The higher performance has a negative impact on the battery life. This netbook isn't competitive with a maximum of 5 hours and 28 minutes and Intel's weaker devices clearly have a lead.Lenovo 3000 V100 Battery
The Asus Eee PC 1015T will be available at German and Austrian retailers at the end of October 2010. Spoilt for choice: The device is available in four colors and two finishings. The recommended retail price for the AMD netbook is 349 euro including sales tax.Lenovo 3000 V200 Battery
Pocket memory with USB 3.0. Memory sticks pose a good compromise between size and capacity. ADATA offers the Nobility N005, a model with up-to-date USB-3.0 interface, which also wants to convince in terms of performance. We checked how successful.Lenovo 3000 C200 Battery
16 GB in aluminum caseDocuments, music, videos, picture and other kind of data can be stored on a USB stick. Being handy, cheap, and simple to use, Lenovo 3000 N100 Battery it is hard to imagine daily computer use without these small storage devices. While the capacity increases steadily - even models with up to 256 GB are available today - the performance did not chance much. Many models still feature a USB-2.0 interface, which can hardly go faster than 35 MB/s and, so, poses the limiting factor. E.g., completely filling a 256 GB stick at theoretical maximum speed would take 2 hours.Lenovo 3000 N200 Battery
Solution: Since a while more and more models with eSATA or USB-3.0 are offered and promise a significant performance gain. Lenovo IdeaPad S10  BatteryOur test model features a USB-3.0 port and the manufacturer advertises with transfer rates of up to 85 MB/s at reading and 55 MB/s at writing. Although this is slower than the maximum USB-3.0 speed, it is clearly faster than USB-2.0. The ADATA Nobility N005 Stick is available with 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB capacity. We tested the smallest model. The prices range from barely 40.- euro up to 120.- Euro (street price).Lenovo IdeaPad S10 20015  Battery
HP Mini 5101 USB 2.0Although the Nobility N005 is 90 x 20,5 x 11,5 mm big and therewith slightly bigger than many common sticks, it still convinces with its high mobility. The aluminum case is very robust and the USB-interface is protected by a black plastic cap.Lenovo IdeaPad S10 4231  Battery
We tested the stick on different computers and interfaces to see how compatible it is. In detail we used an MSI 880 GMA-E45 mainboard, a HP Probook 6540b, an Icy Box USB 3.0 ExpressCard, a HP Mini 5101 and a Mac Mini. The performance was recorded on the desktop computer, the other computers were just used for compatibility tests.Lenovo IdeaPad S10C  Battery
Just like common for many USB-enhancements, a driver was automatically installed at first start-up and it was possible to rather quickly and trouble-free use the stick on all test computers. If the stick is connected to a USB-2.0 port, usually, but, not always an information pops up that this limits the transfer rate.Lenovo IdeaPad S10e  Battery
In the performance tests, Crystal Disk Mark recorded a maximum of 83.1 MB/s at sequential reading and 29.25 MB/s at writing. It is almost as fast as ADATA promises at reading, which is remarkable for a stick of this price range. But, the write speed is somewhat disappointing. Furthermore, the performance clearly drops when transferring small files.Lenovo IdeaPad S10e 4068  Battery
In practice, we measured transfer rates between 58,8 MB/s and 15,6 MB/s at writing and between 73,8 MB/s and 20,5 MB/s at reading while moving a 4.54 GB big directory with different kind of files (from HD videos to small text files) via USB-3.0. At least sometimes, the stick reaches the write rate promised by the manufacturer in this scenario. The access time is 0.499 ms.Lenovo IdeaPad S10e 4187  Battery
At the HP Probook 6540b we recorded an exceptionally low USB-2.0 transfer rate of only 22 MB/s, although the Probook can usually do 28 MB/s. This seems to be a peculiarity of the interaction between the Probook and the Nobility Stick N005. Even the HP Mini 5101 Netbook could achieve clearly faster 28.8 MB/s. Finally, the desktop was able to achieve almost 34 MB/s via USB-2.0.Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 Battery

travel charger HP Compaq 395791-661

A virtual QWERTY keyboard fades in on the bottom screen in text fields or an email. Additional chars and the German umlauts can be selected via a button. Typing works without delays, but doesn't supply the hands with any feedback, apart from a sound (no vibration). Long texts aren't a good task for the tablet because of the lacking pressure point. The system at least suggests words. travel charger HP Compaq 395791-661
But, it's not necessary to type a lot. When choosing a web address, we tap on the microphone icon (upper right) and say the address. Even longer Internet addresses were entered correctly in the test. Both screen halves are one single surface for multi-touch operation. Swiping, zooming or other gestures are simply continued over the gap. Since there are no edges, the gap is hardly felt.travel charger HP Compaq 395791-741
The Android Honeycomb update 3.2 is vital for the Tablet P, because the apps developed for smartphone or large tablet formats can be downloaded sized accordingly for "single screen size" or the "full screen size". This works via the zoom icon in the task bar (fades in according to application). However, switching leads to crashes or simply doesn't work in a few games (see game apps). travel charger HP Compaq 396751-001
According to the manufacturer, it's supposed to be possible to run two apps at the same time. However, that didn't work in our tests. The apps either occupied the upper or the entire screen. As soon as a second app was recovered or loaded, the opened app disappeared in the task tray and the lower screen stayed black on occasion.travel charger HP Compaq 397809-001
The Tablet P on top of Asus' Eee PC Slider SL101The tablet P has two identical 5.5 inch screens with 1024x480 pixels each. Each screen has a size of 13.9 cm,travel charger HP Compaq 397809-003 but it is 18.0 cm (7 inches) across both screens. One surface is created when opened and is only interrupted by a gap of one millimeter. The TFT surface isn't enclosed by a plastic bezel, but it stops exactly at the outer side. The imaging screen naturally doesn't reach into this area. It stops four millimeters before the edge of both sides. Thus, both screens have a gap of nine millimeters.travel charger HP Compaq 397809-242
IPS screen with good contrastWe executed the brightness assessment twice. With 369 cd/m2, the upper screen shines brighter than the lower one (307 cd/m2). The difference isn't noticed during use. The contrast difference is higher and is almost 800:1 on the upper screen and 600:1 on the bottom one. The brightness remains constant in battery mode and can be automatically adapted via the ambient light sensor when desired.travel charger HP Compaq 398650-001
The high brightness (upper: 370 cd/m2) beats 99% of test laptops. They have an average of only 230 cd/m2. This brightness is sooner normal in the tablet sector (without low-end tablets). The sister model, Sony Tablet S, shines with 334 cd/m2. The good brightness resists the glare type's reflections and supplies an acceptable, though not perfect, sight in daylight.travel charger HP Compaq 398680-001
but can reflect noticeablyThe Tablet P copies the wide viewing angles of its sister, Tablet S. An IPS screen of the same quality was built in there. We can look onto the screen from all perspectives without color deviations. The screen brightens up at views over the corners starting at 25 degrees, i.e. the contrast weakens very quickly.travel charger HP Compaq 398854-001Like A Rock. Toshiba's Qosmio X775-Q7272 might epitomize everything that comes with its 17.3-inch form factor, but solid build quality and impressive specifications make the laptop capable of handling virtually anything.
As most laptop manufacturers are wont to do, Toshiba refreshed part of its consumer laptop line earlier this year. While the previously reviewed Toshiba Satellite P745-S4250 was clearly aimed at budget-minded consumers — midrange performance for an equally midrange price — the Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7272 makes no qualms about its intended audience. travel charger HP Compaq 398874-001
With a premium-sized display and an equally deep bench of features, the Qosmio X775-Q7272 is targeted at users who don't want to compromise on their laptop's specifications. If you're planning on swinging for the fences for your next laptop purchase, though, does the Qosmio X775-Q7272's features justify its price tag? Read on to find out.travel charger HP Compaq 408545-001
As with the Toshiba Satellite P745-S4250, the Qosmio X775-Q7272's chassis is constructed entirely from textured plastic. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-141We weren't fans of the similarly plastic-heavy construction on the Satellite P745-S4250 — with aluminum being used on lower-priced competitors, the exclusion is a bit confusing on both Toshiba laptops — but the Qosmio X775-Q7272's heft lends it some durability. Thanks in part to the Qosmio X775-Q7272's construction as a desktop replacement, it's built like a tank. We noticed no significant amounts of flex on the top of bottom of the laptop's chassis. However, we weren't fans of the display construction — the front and back portions of the display housing weren't entirely aligned, giving the trim a rough feel. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-142
Surprisingly, the Qosmio X775-Q7272's solid construction doesn't result in an overly bulky laptop. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-241The Qosmio X775-Q7272 clocks in at 2.99 kg (6.6 lbs) and while it'd be a stretch for any 17-inch laptop to be considered portable, it's considerably lighter than much of its similarly built competition: the Toshiba Qosmio X770-10J weighs 3.58 kg (7.9 lbs) and the Asus G74SX weighs 4.564 kg (10.1 lbs). With a height of 27.9 to 35.5 mm (1.1 inches to 1.4 inches), the Qosmio X775-Q7272 also touts a thickness that is average and comparable to many of its competitors. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-261
Of course, this isn't to say that the Qosmio X775-Q7272 is a lightweight laptop — at 17.3 inches, the display isn't without its bulk and between the Qosmio X775-Q7272's weight and gigantic power supply (170.9 x 86.4 x 40.6 mm / 6.7 x 3.4 x 1.6 inches), carrying the laptop from one location to another can be difficult. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-262
Aesthetically, the Qosmio features the same charcoal-grey exterior on the keyboard deck and display, with a racecar-red section blended in along the laptop's hinge. Visually, the red coloring shakes up the traditional industrial chic design that's common on most laptops, but we'll agree that it's a bit of a nontraditional choice. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-621
The bottom of the Qosmio X775-Q7272 doesn't feature much of note. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-721Beyond a dedicated subwoofer speaker and an elevated battery bay, the bottom of the chassis features a single cover for access to the laptop's upgradable components. Accessories on the display are minimal — beyond the webcam, a few rubber stoppers are aligned along the perimeter of the screen. In addition, the display features no locking hinges, but it's held in place when closed by its weight. travel charger HP Compaq 408545-741
The Qosmio X775-Q7272 features a straightforward selection of ports.travel charger HP Compaq 408545-761 In addition to the usual Kensington lock and audio connections, the Qosmio X775-Q7272 also touts Blu-Ray disc drive, HDMI connectivity, and a single USB 3.0 port. Port spacing isn't an issue — ample space between each port makes cable tangle an unlikely possibility. Tests of the Qosmio's VGA and HDMI ports yielded no major display issues.
Thanks to the included Blu-Ray player, it's possible to play Blu-Ray discs — albeit in 720p — but we'd avoid using the included Corel WinDVD application. travel charger HP Compaq 409357-001  When the program was opened, AVG Anti-Virus detected it as malware and in addition, some Blu-Ray discs would refuse to play, even when the application was uninstalled. Plus, mouse control was disabled when we attempted to play other discs. For media playback, we'd recommend sticking with alternate programs such as Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player.travel charger HP Compaq 409357-002
Similarly, the Qosmio X775-Q7272 also possesses the usual lineup of networking options. Besides the RJ-45 port on the left side of the notebook, the laptop features 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and Bluetooth 3.0 + HS.travel charger HP Compaq 415306-001
Like with the Satellite P745-S4250, the Qosmio X775-Q7272 features a large suite of pre-installed Toshiba-branded and third-party software. On the plus side, Toshiba's Sleep-and-Music and Sleep-and-Charge make return appearances. Both programs allow you to take advantage of the laptop's hardware while it's in sleep mode. travel charger HP Compaq 418867-001
Sleep-and-Charge turns the laptop into a spare charger for your USB-based devices, while Sleep-and-Music lets you use the laptop's sound system as a backup speaker by connecting an MP3 player or similar device through the Qosmio X775-Q7272's Line-In jack with a headphone cable. We weren't able to test out Sleep-and-Music, but Sleep-and-Charge worked as expected. travel charger HP Compaq 418871-001
As for Toshiba's first-party branded software, there are few significant surprises.travel charger HP Compaq 443884-001 The bundled software encompasses the usual diagnostic and informational functionality. Programs such as Toshiba's eco Utility allow you to manage your laptop's power consumption levels, while other assorted applications provide functionality ranging from disk recovery production to facial recognition. Toshiba's Online Backup and Norton Internet Security 2011 are limited trials. As with most included software, the amount of usefulness you'll get from these programs depends on whether or not you want them or already have software that function similarly.travel charger HP Compaq 443885-001
Pop-up ads on the Toshiba.Toshiba's Book Place and App Place are also included on the Qosmio X775-Q7272. On the Satellite P745-S4250,travel charger HP Compaq 446398-001 we were surprised with the latter and unimpressed with the former: our impressions are largely the same. Book Place is Toshiba's first-party eBook store — users can purchase eBooks and view them on Toshiba computers and tablets. Unlike most manufacturer-branded stores, Book Place's selection is deep enough to include recognizable items — Rebecca Skloot's “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” and Stephanie Meyer's “Breaking Dawn” are among the currently featured titles. travel charger HP Compaq 446399-001
Toshiba's App Place suffers from the opposite problem — while it's ostensibly meant to provide the same functionality as Apple's App Store, the sparse app selection provides few incentives to bring users in. We found few recognizable applications and with most operating on monthly subscription plans, we can't imagine why users wouldn't spring for better known or freeware alternatives.travel charger HP Compaq 983C2280F
In addition, travel charger HP Compaq DAK100520-01F200Lwe're equally annoyed at the inclusion of pop-up ads on the Qosmio X775-Q7272 as we were on the Satellite P745-S4250. Pop-up ads for assorted bundled Toshiba applications sporadically appeared during our testing process. While Toshiba gives the option to disable these pop-up ads, we'd argue that they shouldn't have even been included in the first place. After all, on a laptop priced at more than $1,000 USD, manufacturer-bundled pop-up ads can't help but feel unnecessary and intrusive. travel charger HP Compaq EQ441AV
Our review unit came with nothing beyond the bare essentials for operation. Inside the box, the Qosmio X775-Q7272 included the laptop, power supply and minimal documentation. On Toshiba's website, users can purchase additional accessories ranging from laptop bags to replacement AC adapters. Toshiba doesn't offer any additional options for battery replacements — beyond a replacement stock battery, no additional larger capacity batteries are sold, although this can likely be chalked up to the limited portability advantages offered from a 17.3-inch laptop.travel charger HP Compaq HP Compaq HSTNN-DB05

Asus A32-K72 capacity

For its ProBook 5330m, HP is betting on a 13 inch display from Samsung, sporting a matt surface and a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. With that, the small display shows insufficient content for serious work but you can connect an external display or projector through either VGA or HDMI ports. Asus A31-B43 capacity
So far, we liked the qualities of HP's ProBook 5330m rather well and we had hoped this would continue with the display. But the first glance at our measurements provides a different picture. The brightness of the display leaves a lot to be desired. A maximum of 150 cd/m² is not acceptable in a 2011 model. An average brightness of just 134.8 cd/m² is bested even by much cheaper netbooks. Asus A32-K72 capacity
Backlight evenness of the ProBook 5330m display fails to score as well at a below average 77 percent. Aggravating this condition is a further lowering of brightness during operation by 22%, giving a center measurement of only 132 cd/m².Asus A32-N71 capacity
In some areas, the display comes out a little better; in spite of the low brightness, or maybe because of it, the black value is decent at 1.07 cd/m². Contrast can't be saved by this however, too much is lost to low brightness, fixing contrast at just 140:1. Color accuracy of the display is similarly dismal: Neither Adobe's color space nor the smaller sRGB color space came even close to being filled.Asus 70-NX01B1000Z capacity
Interesting: In the ProBook 5330m version tested by our colleagues in the United States, a different display panel was used, sporting better brightness and contrast. Apparently, HP uses different panels in different countries.OutdoorsDuring outdoor use, the display causes no problems. Readability does suffer from the display's low brightness, but its still more readable than displays with glossy surface.Asus 70-NXH1B1000Z capacity
Viewing angles of the notebook are average. There were no surprises. Observing angles along the horizontal axis, the display remains readable from the sides. If you tilt the display up or down though, the image worsens drastically. If you veer to the side at the same time, it becomes difficult to discern anything.Asus 70-NZY1B1000Z capacity
The installed Intel Core i5-2520M is a current generation high end dual core processor. With a base clock speed of 2.5 GHz, it provides pretty good performance, further amplified by Turbo Boost technology, which boosts clock speed up to 3.0 GHz or 3.2 GHz as needed. Asus 70-NZYB1000Z capacity
The automatic performance increase depends on sufficient cooling and your application's usage of just one core or both cores. Asus A41-U36 capacity With a TDP of 35 Watt, the processor's power draw is reasonable, but in spite of that, Intel only recommends it for notebooks with 14 inch displays and up, because the cooling system needs to have sufficient size to handle the heat this CPU emits. Performance of this processor suffices for the usual office applications, but also for video editing and current games, so long as the GPU can handle it.Asus A42-U36 capacity
The HP ProBook 5330m has no dedicated GPU, just the integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU. Using an integrated GPU helps reduce power consumption and also eliminates the need for additional components in the cooling system, since you only need to cool one processor, not two. Asus A32-K53 capacity
Performance is about equal to the Nvidia GeForce 310M entry level GPU from the year 2009. With this, you can only play newer games fluidly at low detail settings. For more demanding applications or games, the GPU falters pretty soon as the HD 3000 was not designed for games but for basic office applications or browsing the internet. For these tasks the GPU is amply sufficient.Asus A42-K53 capacity
To better judge the notebook's processor performance, we use the CineBench software. The CineBench R10 Rend. Single (64 Bit) benchmark only uses one of the processor's cores. The HP ProBook 5330 reached a score of 5073.0 points, placing it rather high in our benchmark list. HP's ProBook 5330 came very close to the Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch 2011-02 MC723LL/A (2720QM, HD 6750) with 5150.0 Points. Asus A32-K93 capacity
In the CineBench R10 Rend. Multi (64 Bit) benchmark using all processor cores,Asus A42-K93 capacity the HP ProBook 5330m scored 10584.0 Points. This result isn't quite as high in the list, but still a good ranking. Compared to other notebooks using the i5-2520M processor, the ProBook 5330m is in the upper middle field. The fastest 2520m notebook is the Dell Vostro 3550 (Vostro0112) (2520M, Asus A41-U46 capacity HD 6630M) with 10797.0 points. Slowest is the ultralight Sony Vaio VPC-SB1Z9EB (2520M, HD6470M) with 10128.0 points. A satisfying overall performance for the HP ProBook 5330m. TurboBoost could be used without problems and raised clock speed to 3.2 GHz and 3.0 GHz.Asus A32-U46 capacity
We use PCMark Vantage and PCMark 7 to judge system performance. In the overall scoring, the ProBook 5330m subnotebook achieved 10775.0 points,Asus A42-U46 capacity placing this unit pretty far up in our listing. Other notebooks in this region are the Schenker XMG A501 (W150HRM) (2410M, GT 555M) with its 10786.0 points or the Alienware M11x R3 (2657M, GT540M) with 10436.0 Points. In our PCMark 7 benchmarks the notebook performs similarly well, scoring in the upper third of performance ratings. The integrated SSD is a requirement to play at this performance level, laptops with conventional hard drives are far behind.Asus A32-NX90 capacity

While the HP ProBook was very convincing in the previous benchmarks, we don't expect much in the graphics benchmark. The Intel HD 3000 GPU is not exactly a performance miracle. With the 3705.0 points the HP ProBook scored, it is far down in the lower half of the chart. Asus A42-G74 capacity
Compared to other notebooks using the integrated Intel GPU, it does alright though. Even though the Packard Bell EasyNote TS11-HR-040UK (2410M, HD Graphics 3000) is significantly ahead with its 4607.0 points, it happens to be the fastest notebook we measured, employing Intel's GPU. Bringing up the rear is the Samsung 900X1B-A02 (2357M, HD 3000 GPU) with 1392.0 points. Asus LC42SD128 capacity
Other notebooks close in range of the HP ProBook are the HP EliteBook 8460p (2620M, HD6470M) with 3674.0 points and the Toshiba Satellite R850-127 (2410M, HD 6450M) with 3838.0 points.Asus A32-N61 capacity
Crystal DiskA Samsung MZ7PA128HMCD-010H1 SSD drive sporting 128 GB is used in the HP ProBook 5330m.Asus A32-X64 capacity Compared to other recently tested notebooks with SSD drives, like the Asus U36SD notebook, the SSD drive in the ProBook 5330m is on par. This SSD model from Samsung may not be among the fastest current SSD drives, but it doesn't have to hide either. Its faster than a drive with a spinning platter no matter what, with the added benefit of being completely silent.Asus A33-M50 capacity
Given that the HP ProBook 5330m is in no way a gaming notebook, we will only consider games as a side note. In our big comparison test "Computer Games on Laptop Graphics Cards", we have a sufficient number of entries for the Intel HD-3000 GPU to give a good idea about its performance.Asus L062066 capacity
We still tested out Blizzard's StarCraft II real time strategy game "Wings of Liberty", to see how the HP ProBook 5330m does and we got what we expected from the Intel HD-3000. At lowest details and resolution, everything ran fluidly, but the next higher settings brought it to its knees.Asus L072051 capacity
Most of the time, the HP ProBook 5330m remains quiet in exemplary manner. Since there's no conventional hard drive,Asus L0790C6 capacity a further source of noise has been removed from the subnotebook. Under light load, noise remains at 30.5–30.6 dB(A). Only rarely does it get a bit louder, reaching 35.0 dB(A). Under load, it gets pretty loud though. This isn't much of a surprise, as it has to cool a fairly potent Core i5-2520M processor. With 44.6–44.7 dB(A), the notebook is definitely loud, but in every day use, you will not encounter this very often.Asus 90-NYX1B1000Y capacity
The small ProBook 5330m has to keep Intel's latest high end dual core Core i5-2520M cool. In the section about noise, we already noticed that the notebook has to work hard to do that under load.Asus A31-B53 A31-K52 capacity
At idle, that is not noticable yet, maximum temperatures are just barely above average on the upper surface. 28.2° C on the upper surfaces and 29.5° degrees Celsius at the bottom pose no problems. Wrist rests with 28.2° C (left side) and 25.8° C (right side) are cool enough as well. The touchpad reached 26.2° C, which is no cause for concern. Asus A32-K52 capacity
Under load, temperatures go up quite a bit. While the upper surface of the subnotebook rose to a maximum of 44.6° C, the bottom heated up to 45.9° C.Wrist rest temperatures now rise to 38.2° F (left side) and 30.1° C (right side). The touchpad now measures 37.4° C. Your hands are resting on a rather warm place, but overall temperatures still stay within limits. The 45.9° C at the bottom of the notebook are too hot to rest it on your legs though. Hopefully, one won't place it under full load during use away from the desk.Asus A32-N82 A41-K52 capacity

apple a1185 laptop battery

Schenker uses a cutting edge DDR3 RAM (2-32 GB) as the main memory. Tip: Eight GBs are quite sufficient for most users. Also, apple a1175 laptop battery two hard disks can be installed in the case if selected. Besides conventional HDDs (320-1000 GB) and a hybrid model (500 GB), Schenker offers swift SSDs with a capacity of 64 up to a maximum of 512 GB. If a few games are to be installed on the Windows partition, a model with at least 120 GB should be selected in case you are considering buying a solid state drive.apple a1185 laptop battery
Entertainment fans are also satisfied: Instead of a standard DVD burner, a Blu-Ray player or a Blu-Ray burner can be configured.apple a1189 laptop batteryThere are also three options for the keyboard: German, Swiss, and US. An operating system is standardly not included. The buyer can get Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate (64 bit each) for a surcharge. The warranty period is 24, 36, or 48 months. The customer only can't choose a screen, graphics card or the WLAN module.acer aspire 5920 laptop battery
Currently, the XMG P511 starts at an attractive price of 999¤. However, about 1300¤ are quickly due with a reasonable configuration (e.g. quad core, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD & Windows 7 HP). Our lavishly equipped test device (see data sheet on right) even added up to just under 1700¤.acer aspire 5050 laptop battery
Since the basic MSI barebone has already proven itself twice in a test (Medion Erazer X6813 & X6817), we have left out a description of the categories "Case", "Connectivity" and "Input Devices". In contrast to the pictures, the final devices are to receive a matt and not glossy lid.Acer Aspire 5050 laptop battery
We will start with a pleasant surprise right away: A high quality screen from Lenovo was built into our test device (B156HW01 V4). A combination of a matt surface and 1920x1080 pixels is found more often in gaming notebooks lately. The manufacturers have likely had enough of their "high-gloss trip". A 16:9 aspect ratio and an LED backlight are standard anyway.acer aspire 5100 laptop battery
The display rates don't have to hide behind expensive competitors such as Alienware M17x or MSI GT780R. One the one hand, the screen is remarkable because of the high brightness: We determined an average of 247 cd/m2 with i1Display 2. Most laptops don't shine quite as bright and many screens only reach just under 200 cd/m2. Under normal conditions the brightness should even be reduced slightly - issue eye protection.Acer Aspire One D250 laptop battery
Although the illumination of 92% is above average, we can see a bright strip at the upper screen edge. However, it only got disturbing at night and is marginal on darker backgrounds. Apropos: Due to the fairly low black value (0.5 cd/m2), dark scenes don't drift off into the gray range as massively as other screens (over 1.0 cd/m2 are common). The contrast of 518:1 is also great.Acer Aspire One D250-1Bb  laptop battery
A glance at the supported color spectrum almost made us speechless: The built-in screen not only covers the normal sRGB, but also the significantly larger AdobeRGB color spectrum. Acer Aspire One D250-1Br  laptop batteryHardly another device manages to do that, apart from for few exceptions (e.g. see the Dell XPS 15). Users who are only familiar with "sRGB screens" will need a while to get used to the colors. The pictures look relatively brilliant despite the anti-reflective screen. Games and movies are also a delight without an external monitor.Acer Aspire One 10.1 inch  laptop battery
AdobeRGB vs. Schenker XMG P511 (grid)So, it's the perfect experience? Not quite. Alike the Dell XPS 15, red hues sometimes look very dominant and unnatural (pinkish). Unfortunately, this problem could only be partly eliminated via calibration. To prevent misunderstandings: The red cast on the following pictures is primarily due to the viewing angles.Acer Aspire One 8.9 inch  laptop battery
The matt surface and the good brightness allow decent outdoor use. Unlike the glare representatives, the user isn't continually faced with reflections. No matter if indoors or out, reflections are rather rare.Acer Aspire One A110  laptop battery
The Lenovo screen can serve with fairly wide viewing angles horizontally. Even those who sit a bit at either side of the notebook can still enjoy a perfect picture. As usual, the vertical plane is a weak point; the brightness changes fairly fast downward. Nevertheless, a majority of competitors can't compete in this discipline.Acer Aspire One A150   laptop battery
Due to the numerous advantages, we will definitely cross our fingers that the final serial device will also have the B156HW01-V4 screen (including free tools like AIDA analyzer). Please use the comment function should another screen have been installed into your device.Acer Aspire One D150   laptop battery
The brand new Core i7-2760QM serves as the processor in our model. Acer UM08A71 The successor of the i7-2720QM comes from Intel's powerful Sandy Bridge generation and is manufactured in the 32 nm process like its family members (Intel is switching to 22 nm in 2012). The technical data is very impressive on paper: 995 million transistors and a six MB L3 cache ensure high performance. In comparison: The current i5 models have 624 million transistors and a three MB L3 cache.Acer UM08A72
Another highlight of the Sandy Bridge CPU is the embedded (but relatively slow) graphics chip, HD Graphics 3000, which could theoretically be used for energy saving purposes. Acer UM08A73 However, the XMG P511 lacks the corresponding graphics switch. A few applications benefit from the Hyper Threading Technology meanwhile. It supplies every physical core with a virtual counterpart. While Intel's dual cores can thus process four threads at the same time, it's a total of eight parallel threads in the quad cores. However, Hyper Threading doesn't add a significant advantage in games yet.Acer UM08A74
The automatic overclocking function, Turbo Boost, is more interesting for gamers. Acer UM08B71 In the case of the Core i7-2760QM, the default clock of 2.4 GHz is increased to a maximum of 3.5 GHz dynamically. We tested the Turbo mode with Cinebench R10: 3.3-3.5 GHz in single core load and 3.1-3.2 GHz in multi-core load (according to Intel's Turbo Boost Monitor) don't give reason for complaint. The enormous performance naturally has its price: A TDP of 45 watts is quite a lot for notebook conditions (Core i5: max. 35 watts). Note: Since the Core i3 models don't support Turbo Boost, it's better to avoid the low-priced Core i3-2330M.Acer UM08B72
The Core i7-2760M had to show its abilities in Cinebench R11.5, optimized for multi cores, among other benchmarks. Acer UM08B73 With a score of 5.66 points, the processor places itself by nearly 9% in front of its smaller brother, Core i7-2670QM (5.19 points @ Medion Erazer X7813-MD97895). The in-house dual cores don't stand the slightest chance in a direct comparison. Even the top model, Core i7-2640M, falls behind by 45% (3.13 points @ Sony Vaio VPC-SE1Z9E/B). The difference is a lot different in applications that only make use of two cores. Nevertheless, a quad core clearly bids the higher future security.Acer UM08B74
The biggest star next to the excellent screen in the XMG P511 is the GeForce GTX 570M. For one thing, Nvidia's high-end graphics card offers a vast amount of power. The Fermi offshoot (GF114 chip) includes everything that a modern graphics card needs.Acer ZG5
The graphics card settles between the premium models, GTX 560M (192 shaders, 775/1250/1550 MHz) and GTX 580M (384 shaders, 620/1500/1240 MHz) with 336 "CUDA cores" and a clock of 575/1500/1150 MHz (core/memory/shaders). The GDDR5 video memory has a capacity of 1536 MB and has a 192 bit bus like the GTX 560M (GTX 580M: 256 bit interface).Acer UM08A51 laptop battery
Nvidia doesn't miss a trick in terms of software, either. An example? Physics can be transferred to the graphics card in certain applications via PhysX. An HD audio controller (surround sound via HDMI) and a HD video decoder join in. We likely don't have to mention the DirectX 11 support here. For better classification: The desktop graphic cards, Radeon HD 5770 and GeForce GT 550 Ti (both midrange models), perform on an equal level.Acer AS07B31 laptop battery

Most notebooks can only dream of the power that a GeForce GTX 570M has. 34.7 fps in the DirectX 11 based Unigine Heaven 2.1 benchmark (1280x1024, high, default tessellation) is an acceptable result. While the GTX 560M lags behind by 18% (29.3 fps @ Medion Erazer X7813-MD97895), the GTX 580M takes the lead by almost 26% (43.8 fps @ Alienware M17x R3).Acer AS07B51
3DMark 11's GPU score (1280x720, performance setting) shows a similar picture. With 2406 points, the GTX 570M has a 20% lead on the GTX 560M (2009 points), but lags behind the GTX 580M (3191 points) by 25%. And what about with AMD's top model? The Radeon HD 6990M (e.g. see the Schenker XMG P701 PRO) partly spurts past the GTX 580M.Acer AS07B61
As mentioned in the beginning, the XMG P511 can be optionally equipped with two hard disks. Schenker installs the operating system on a solid state drive with a large capacity of 128 GB. It is the swift RealSSD M4 from Crucial. It especially attracts attention with its fantastic read rates: Nearly 500 MB/s (sequential) is a pleasantly high rate. The access time of 0.2 ms is within the usual range in the meantime.Acer AS07B71
